It Starts with a Gift… It Leads to Lives Transformed by Christ
Right now, an estimated 2.3 million children have a mom or dad in prison. The number is huge – but so is the opportunity. Angel Tree is a ministry that reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. It seeks to transform the lives of these families and to reconcile them to their Heavenly Father and each other. In Matthew 18:5 Jesus said, “Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.” There are children right in your community who are among the most at-risk children in the nation. Angel Tree provides an opportunity to connect with those families and begin ministering to them at Christmas and then continue through a variety of year-round ministry opportunities.
This is the Thirteenth year we have sponsored the Angel Tree Ministry in and around the Mechanicsville area for children of incarcerated parents. The tree will be ready on November 23rd in the hallway by the sanctuary, and gifts should be returned by December 7th . To participate, remove one of the fifty Angels from the tree. Each angel will have information about the child and a card addressed to the parents. You are to provide two gifts to be from the parents and a third inspirational gift from you. Each gift should not exceed $15.00 and wrapped separately, so that each child will have three gifts. These gifts should then be put into one large bag to keep the gifts together. On the attached card to the parent, list the gifts that you have provided for the child from the parent and some words of encouragement for the parent.
Please sign your first name only on the card to the parent, and attach the card and angel to the outside of the large bag with the gifts. The church will mail each card to the parent. To volunteer to deliver the gifts on December 13th please contact Mae Antkievicz
