Student Experiences

Summer Mission Trip:

Your summer has just begun and what a better time to kick it off than to be a servant of Christ with the students of WGBC. Our mission trips are hands on. The week is spent with kids at Boys & Girls Clubs, sorting food at food banks, serving lunch at a homeless shelter, doing manual labor and much more. This trip will blow your mind. Before you know it the week is over and it’s time to come home. The relationships that you make with those you serve and with the students in the group leave lasting memories.

Mission Trip 2008 will be June 20-27   Charleston, SC

D-Now Weekend

This weekend is a time to get out of your house and invade the home of a member of WGBC. You will spend two nights with a group of 6 to 8 students and a Bible study leader or two. While in the host homes you will dive deeper into your relationships with each other and with God. As for the community at large, we will come together for worship and a Saturday afternoon activity. This weekend offers great opportunity for community growth.

633 (Matthew 6:33 But Seek first His Kingdom...):

A coming together of students from Mechanicsville and the greater Richmond area to worship as one. We gather together beginning on the first Sunday night in April and go through Wednesday night. The reason for a 4 night worship atmosphere is to encourage students to go back into their schools and bring their friends on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night. It seems as if most church retreats and outreach ministries are focused on the weekends. We feel led to provide a place where you can be engaged in true worship and hear a message that is relevant to the students.

Junior High Weekend:

Road trip!! Pack your bags and prepare yourself for a crazy weekend. JHW takes us to Eagle Eyrie along with hundreds of other JR High students from around the state. We worship as one and have breakout sessions that are geared directly to the students. It provides a time for junior high students to strengthen ones relationship with one another.

Senior High Weekend:

Get your gear and let’s roll! This weekend is all about students in the 9-12 grade. Typically this weekend provides an opportunity to examine yourself and where you are on your journey of faith. We engage ourselves in worship and community. We look to provide a setting where students can be themselves and truly open themselves up to God and one another.
